OWENSBORO, Ky. - The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (7-11, 4-5 Great Midwest) swept their road conference match, 3-0, at Kentucky Wesleyan College (2-14, 1-7 Great Midwest), on Wednesday at Jones Gymnasium.
 
The Trojans prevailed 25-21, 25-21, 25-22 to improve to 13-11 in the all-time series with the Panthers. Trevecca is on a six-match win streak in the series. The Panthers haven't beaten the Trojans since 2019.
  
HOW IT HAPPENED
With the first set tied 4-4, TNU used a 5-1 run to build a 9-5 lead, a lead they did not relinquish the rest of the set.

With Wesleyan leading 7-3 early in the second set, Trevecca rallied with a 7-1 run for a 10-8 advantage. After KWC tied it at 10-10, TNU regained the lead and held it the rest of the way.

The host Panthers maintained control deep into the third set and appeared to forcing a fourth set, leading 18-13. Trevecca used a 7-2 run to even the match at 20-20. KWC regained the lead 21-20, but the Trojans closed the set with a 5-1 run to not only end the set, but the match.

TEAM REPORT
Trevecca took the block category 9-5 and aces 6-5. Trevecca hit .258 for the match while KWC hit .078. In the second set, Trevecca hit .440 (12 K, 1 E, 25 TA).  
 
TROJAN PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS
Emma Titus led TNU with 15 kills, three aces, two assists, and nine digs. Cara Maguire added seven kills while Emilee McDonald led the team with 10 digs and 24 assists.            
  
UP NEXT
Next, Trevecca hosts Thomas More University (1-13, 0-6 Great Midwest) Friday (Oct. 6) at 6 PM in Trojan Fieldhouse. The Saints are visiting the Trojan Fieldhouse for the first time. The only meeting in volleyball between the two schools came earlier this year, Sept. 19, when the Trojans came away with a 3-2 win at Connor Convocation Center on the Thomas More in Crestview Hills, Ky. Emma Titus led the way with 22 kills, three aces, three blocks, and 15 digs. Maddie Wilds added 15 kills and 10 digs.
 
Cedarville University (8-7, 3-4 Great Midwest) suits up against the Trojans on the Hill at 1 PM on Saturday (Oct. 7). The Yellow Jackets lead the all-time series 17-8, but the Trojans have won four of the last five meeting including a sweep in the conference tournament last season.
