NASHVILLE - The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (8-11, 5-5 Great Midwest) swept their second conference match in a row, 3-0. The Trojans took visiting Thomas More University (2-13, 0-7 Great Midwest), on Friday at Trojan Fieldhouse.
 
The Saints visited the Trojan Fieldhouse for the first time, they are first-year members of the Great Midwest after moving to NCAA Division II from the NAIA. The only previous meeting in volleyball between the two schools came earlier this year, Sept. 19, when the Trojans came away with a 3-2 win at Connor Convocation Center on the Thomas More in Crestview Hills, Ky.  
  
HOW IT HAPPENED
With the first set tied 2-2, Trevecca pulled away early with a 6-2 lead, but continued to pull away and eventually led by 15 (24-9), which was also the final margin (25-10).  

The Saints led early in the second set. With the visitors leading 7-5, Trevecca turned the set in their favor with a 9-0 run to stake a 14-7 advantage. After a side out, the Trojans scored eight straight on the serve of Katie Crutchfield. Trevecca eventually built a double-digit advantage, winning 25-15.
 
TMU, needing to a win in set three to continue the match, came out strong for the second set in a row and led 6-5. A 7-1 run put the Trojans up 12-7. TNU built a seven-point lead, 20-13, before taking the set and match with a 25-20 win in set three.

TEAM REPORT
Trevecca hit .207 with six aces and six blocks. TMU hit .020 for the match and had just one block.    
 
TROJAN PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS
The Trojans, playing without points leader Emma Titus, were led by Maddie Wilds eight kills and .182 attack percentage. Wilds added nine digs and a block. Katie Crutchfield had 14 digs to lead the team and added two service aces to take the team lead with 22 aces on the year.              
  
UP NEXT
Cedarville University (9-7, 4-4 Great Midwest) suits up against the Trojans on the Hill at 1 PM on Saturday (Oct. 7). The Yellow Jackets lead the all-time series 17-8, but the Trojans have won four of the last five meeting including a sweep in the conference tournament last season.
