NASHVILLE - The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (9-11, 6-5 Great Midwest) swept their third conference match in a row, 3-0. The Trojans took visiting Cedarville University (9-8, 4-5 Great Midwest), on Saturday at Trojan Fieldhouse.
 
Trevecca won 25-17, 25-20, 25-22 for their fifth win in the last six matches in the all-time series. CU leads the all-time series 17-9.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Trevecca jumped out to a 5-1 start in the first set and never led the Yellow Jackets get settled, winning 25-17.
 
CU's first lead in the match came early in the second set when they pulled ahead 2-1. A 4-1 TNU run put the Trojans ahead for good, 5-3. Trevecca methodically held on to a modest lead for a good part of the set. With Trevecca up 16-13, the Trojans made things a bit more comfortable lead, 23-15, with a 7-2 run.  
 
Cedarville scored the first point of the third, but Trevecca reacted to take a 4-1 lead. Other than a 5-5 tie, Trevecca maintained a modest lead until the Yellow Jackets made their biggest surge of the match. With TNU up 13-10, CU pulled ahead 18-16 with an 8-3 run. TNU tied the match at 18-18, but CU regained the advantage at 19-18. With the match in doubt and tied 20-20, TNU regained control and closed out the set and match 5-2 for a 25-22 match deciding set three win.  

TEAM REPORT
Trevecca hit for .318 for the match and peaked hitting .344 (13-2-32) in the third set. Trevecca had four players collect two aces for a team total of eight.
 
TROJAN PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS
Emma Titus led the Trojan attack with 13 kills and hit .444 (13-1-27) for the match and added three digs. Cara Maguire had seven kills with four digs. Emilee McDonald had five kills, hit .556, with 26 assists, two service aces, six digs, and two blocks. Katie Crutchfield had eight digs and two service aces.
  
UP NEXT
Trevecca is set to play in the 2023 Midwest Region Volleyball Crossover at the Hammond SportsPlex in Hammond, Indiana Oct. 13-14, 2023. Their opponents and times will be revealed in the next couple of days.

When Trevecca returns to Great Midwest play, they'll visit Ursuline College on Oct. 20 and Lake Erie College Oct. 21.
