BOLIVAR, MO - The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (1-0), won its first game in the Midwest Region Crossover against Southwest Baptist University, 79-73, on Friday. 
BREAKING IT DOWN
With the game tied 7-7 (14:28) Trevecca went on a 11-0 run to take an 18-7 lead with 11:46 left on the first half clock. Josh Goings added six points in the run which saw the Trojans hit five of six shots. The Trojans continued to push and eventually had a 16-2 run that put the visitors up 23-9 with 10:11 left in the half. 
 
Trevecca saw its lead melt to four (26-22) with 3:24 left in the half, but led 35-25 at the break after closing with a 9-3 run.
 
The Trojans pushed the lead to 17 (45-28) with 16:57 left in the game after extending the closing first half run to a 19-6 run.
 
With 1:24 left in the game, the Trojans led by 12 (70-58). SBU made things interesting with a 13-4 run to close the Trojan advantage to just one three-point basket. With :24 seconds left, the Bearcats were down 74-71. Drenin Dinkins scored five of his game-high 26 in that stretch. SBU hit 5-7 from the field and 2-3 from deep. 
 
Trevecca closed the game with a 5-2 run for the first win in Kevin Carroll's TNU career.
KEY PLAYERS
Lawerence Brazil III scored 19 points to lead his team. Lawrence was 8-10 from the foul line and 3-6 from deep. Pete Lambesis scored 16 points with three assists and seven rebounds. Pete was 3-4 from the three-point line and foul line. Jalen Page added ten points and five rebounds for Trevecca. Caleb Terry was the top rebounder for Trevecca with eight and two blocked shots.  
TEAM TIME
Trevecca outscored Southwest Baptist 35-25 in the first half and 44-48 in the second half. The Trojans shot 47.1% (24-51) from the field, 37.5% (9-24) from deep, and 59.5% (22-37) from the foul line. Southwest outrebounded the Trojans 38-32, but SBU had 18 turnovers to TNU's 13. Trevecca had seven steals and turned those into 21 points.

On Saturday, November 11, Trevecca faces Drury University at 4:30 PM for their last game at the Midwest Region Crossover at SBU in Bolivar, MO.
