NASHVILLE – The
Trevecca Nazarene University Men's Soccer team (5-7-1, 4-5-1 Great Midwest) defeated the Ohio Dominican Panthers (2-7-3, 2-5-3 Great Midwest), 5-2, at the
Trevecca Soccer Complex.
Starting off early for the Trojans,
Ben Singer converted a penalty kick opportunity and scored the first TNU goal at 9:21.
The second TNU goal came off the foot of
Marlon Grossmann at 29:01 with an assist from
Max Titterington. It would be the first of three goals in the game for Grossmann. He scored a goal in Trevecca's 2-1 win over Malone on Thursday, giving Grossmann a four goal week.
Just over ten minutes later (39:23),
Marlon Grossmann scored again with an assist from
Michael Martey.
Trevecca went to the half with a 3-0 lead.
Marlon Grossmann earned the hat trick with his third goal just minutes into the second half. His final goal came at 51:42, giving the Trojans a 4-0 lead.
Just under eight minutes later, the Trojans scored their fifth and final goal at 59:17 thanks to
Sam Barrionuevo. This gave the Trojans a 5-0 advantage.
ODU scored two goals to close out the match. Mubelele Mhango scored the first at 60:47 and was assisted by Jayden Williams and Jacob Gruber. The second was by Even Reppeto at 82:10.
During the match, Trevecca had a total of 19 shots with nine on goal and Ohio Dominican took 11 with seven on goal. Trevecca's goalie,
Giuliano Palma, had five saves which is his season high. The Panther's goalie, Cory Pulles, had four saves.
