Box Score NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's soccer team (3-4, 1-3 Great Midwest) returned home and fell to Kentucky Wesleyan College (5-2-1, 2-1-1 Great Midwest) 2-1 on Thursday night at the Trojan Soccer Complex.
THE SERIES
Despite the loss, the Trojans have a 13-5-1 advantage in the all-time series against the Panthers.
THE MATCH
Both teams came out of the gates strong with multiple shots. The Trojans struck first as Marlon Grossmann scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season on an assist by Jacob Sieber just 9:05 into the game. However, the Panthers came right back and tied the game only 50 seconds later. The Trojans and Panthers settled in as the scoring slowed down. However, the Trojans had the advantage in shots 11-5 at the break.
In the second half, things got chippy as both teams committed fouls which eventually led to a penalty kick for the Panthers. They would take the lead on the resulting kick in the 64th minute. The Trojans poured on the shots after the goal but could not solve Kentucky Wesleyan's goalkeeper.
UP NEXT
Trevecca will go on the road to face conference newcomer Northwood (3-1-4, 2-1-1 Great Midwest) on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. before returning home next Thursday to face Lake Erie (1-5-1, 0-3-0 Great Midwest) at 7:00 p.m.
