Box Score CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's soccer team (2-3, 0-2 Great Midwest) began its first conference road trip of the season with a 1-0 loss against Cedarville University (4-1-1, 2-1 Great Midwest) on Thursday.
THE SERIES
The Trojans now have a 2-14-3 record versus Cedarville. Cedarville took last year's meeting 1-0 at the Trojan Soccer Complex.
THE MATCH
The first half was quiet, with neither team able to score. The Trojans held the lead on shots 5-3 and corner kicks 3-1. Cedarville had the only shot on goal of the first half in the 29th minute, but Adan Gonzalez made the save.
Both teams traded shots and saves to begin the second half. Then in the 63rd minute, Cedarville was awarded a penalty kick. Jake Johnson scored on the attempt and gave Cedarville the 1-0 lead. After the goal, Cedarville clamped down on defense and let the clock run out, preventing a Trojan rally.
UP NEXT
Trevecca continues the road trip when they take on Lake Erie College (1-4-1, 0-2 Great Midwest) on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. before returning home to face Kentucky Wesleyan (3-1-1, 0-0-1 Great Midwest) on Wednesday at 7:00 at Trojan Soccer Complex.
