Box Score JACKSON – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's soccer match Wednesday evening, August 31, at Union University was abandoned with just about 15 minutes remaining in the contest. The game was abandoned at that point due to a medical emergency with a Bulldog player. A Bulldog and Trojan collided and after being attended to on the field, the Bulldog player was taken to a local hospital.
UPDATE ON THE INJURED BULLDOG
Both universities agreed the final minutes of action would not be completed. The Trevecca community offered prayers for our long-time friends at Union University, both soccer teams, the Union player, and his family.
Union shared the good news Tuesday of the Bulldog player being able to return to campus and is expected to have a full recovery.
GAME UPDATE
JACKSON, Tenn. - On Thursday, September 1, the game was ruled official, and the Trojans were the 2-1 winner.
Trevecca (2-0-0) began its first road trip of the season with the 2-1 win over Union University (2-1-0).
In the 22nd minute, the Trojan goalkeeper Adan Gonzalez stopped a penalty kick by leaping to his right to make the save and keep the game scoreless. It proved to be a critical part of the end result.
Early in the second period Marlon Grossmann broke a scoreless tie with a score for the Trojans in the 50th minute. It is his third goal on the season, which was assisted by Ben Singer.
The Trojans added to their lead just 30 seconds later when Pablo Martin found the back of the net for his first of the year.
The early second-period scoring flurry continued as Union cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 56th minute.
Trevecca returns to action on Saturday when they play at Shorter College at 6 PM.

The game was halted with just over 15 minutes remaining when a Union player was injured after colliding with a TNU player. The head injury became serious and paramedics were called to the scene and the player was taken to a local hospital. All tests on the player were clear and the player was released from the hospital. A full recovery is expected.
At the time of the injury, the seriousness took away any effort to continue play. Both teams circled up and spent several minutes in prayer while the player was being attended to on the field. Play was stopped for nearly 25 minutes and the coaches and officials decided not to resume play. NCAA rules state a match that has completed at least 70 minutes is official. This match was in the 75th minute.
