NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's soccer team (3-1-1, 2-0-1 Great Midwest), battled for 110 minutes versus (RV) Walsh University (6-0-2, 3-0-1 Great Midwest) to earn a draw at the Trojan Soccer Complex on Friday night. 

Trevecca is off to its best conference start in program history. No Trojan team has started without a loss in its first three matches.

The last Trevecca team with a better overall start than this year's 3-1-1 mark is the 2012-2013 team that started 4-0-1.

THE SERIES

The Trojans and Cavaliers drew for the first time in five all-time meetings. Walsh still leads, 3-1-1. Trevecca broke a two-match losing streak to Walsh.

THE MATCH

To conclude their five-match homestand to begin the season, the Trojans found themselves in a battle with the Cavaliers who are receiving votes in the US Soccer coaches' poll. Despite six shots from both squads, the match was scoreless at the halftime break. In the second half, the Trojans turned up their offense pressure, winning balls in the middle of the yard and completing more of their passes. Despite adding an extra eight shots, six of which registered on goal in the second half, the Trojans played their second extra match of the season. Just one shot was taken in the opening period of extra time, Walsh's Harry Gardner sent one high of Adan Gonzalez. In the final 10 minutes, the Trojans saw two attempts go wide off the foot of Michael Jones and Jacob Sieber.

Adan Gonzalez produced his first career clean sheet and did so with extra time. He produced four saves over his 110 minutes in goal of play versus the top team in the Great Midwest, (RV) Walsh.
