Box Score OWENSBORO – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's soccer team (1-2, 0-1 Great Midwest) opened its 2020-2021 Great Midwest slate with a road match at the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers (1-0, 1-0 Great Midwest) on Saturday, falling 1-0 with a late winner scored by the Panthers.

THE SERIES
It was the 18th all-time matchup, and Trevecca still leads the all-time series, now with a 12-5-1 record.
THE MATCH
The match was deadlocked throughout the first half, with a 0-0 score going into halftime. The Trojans forced a shot on goal from Jonas Grossman with five minutes to play before halftime, but it was saved by Kentucky Wesleyan goalkeeper Lucas Donhauer.
Trevecca continued to push into the Panthers' final third throughout the match, but could not find the back of the net with another save forced by Grossman in the 65th minute and by Pablo Martin in the 79th minute. Kentucky Wesleyan broke the deadlock in the 84th minute, when Max Wawrin gathered a Trevecca goal kick near midfield and played it ahead to Julian Gonzales, who caught the Trojan back-line off-balance and slid the ball past goalkeeper Tyler Delgado.
The Trojans could not find an equalizer in the final seven minutes and fell 1-0.
DETAILS
Goalie Tyler Delgado stopped five shots in the Great Midwest opener, and four of the six shots on goal by the Trojans were forced by Grossman and Martin.
WHAT'S NEXT
Trevecca will return home for its conference opener at Trevecca Soccer Complex, playing Tiffin on March 18. The Trojans will remain at home to host Findlay on March 20, and will hit the road again to Lake Erie on March 27.
