NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's soccer team (4-7-1, 3-6-1 Great Midwest) came up short 1-0 against Cedarville University (10-2-1, 7-2-1 Great Midwest) at the Trojan Soccer Complex on Thursday.

The Trojans now have a 2-13-3 record versus Cedarville.

THE MATCH

The first half of the game was a highly contested affair. Neither team gave the other an advantage, and by the end of the half, both teams had four shots and one on goal. Cedarville held the ball most of the time and in the process, they had four corner kicks and the Trojans had none. The Yellow Jackets were called offsides three times. There were a few fouls, however, with Trevecca totaling five and Cedarville having three. The half ended with a 0-0 score.

The Yellow Jackets started the second half on the right foot, scoring the first and only goal of the game just 32 seconds into the half. The goal was scored by Mauri Ochoa Vazquez and assisted by Jake Johnson. Cedarvile produced seven shots and two on goal, both one more than Trevecca. There were more fouls in the second half as the pressure rose with a one-goal affair. Both teams getting 24 total fouls. In the end, the Trojans weren't able to get one past Cedarville goalkeeper Jared Zacharias.
