Trevecca Men's Basketball | Win Four Straight to Close Season, Look Inside Turnaround

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (6-21, 6-12 Great Midwest) won for the fourth consecutive time defeating Ohio Dominican University (12-16, 8-10 Great Midwest), 66-59, for the first time since 2008. 

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
First win for Trevecca to top ODU since the Panthers joined the Great Midwest in 2017. The Trojans defeated the Panthers during the 2008 season and trail 4-2 in the all-time series.

The win is even more impressive as the Panthers defeated Trevecca 70-54 in the second conference game of the year on December 7, 2019.  

HOW IT HAPPENED

The only lead of the game for Ohio Dominican came on the opening score of the game from Hasan Varence at the 17:24 mark of the first half … at 16:32 Chris Rogers hit a three to put the Trojans up 3-2, they did not trail again in the game … with Trevecca leading 5-4 (14:09) the Trojans built a 17-8 lead when Gabriel McKay stroked a three-pointer with 11:01 to go capping a 12-4 run … the hosts roared back and tied the game 19-19 on a three-pointer from Varence at 7:03 of the half … it is the last time the game was tied as Jaylon Tharpe flicked in a three-pointer at 6:32, but the Trojans up for good at 22-19 … Trevecca outscored the Panthers 15-5 to the break and lead 34-24 … Trevecca steadily built its lead to 14, its largest of the game, at 17:09 to go in the game when Adam Webb put in two of his career-high 21 at the foul line … the Panthers cut the Trojan led to five (50-45 / 7:55), but could get no closer and the Trojans won by 10 (68-58)

Adam Webb led Trevecca with a career-high 21 points with seven rebounds and four blocks … Chris Rogers added 14 points, seven assists, and six rebounds … Justin Headrick led the Trojans with 11 rebounds and added eight points and two blocks …

WHAT'S NEXT
This concludes the season for the team and the career for seniors Reed Smith, Evan Ragsdale, and Malcom Walker. We say another thank you to each of them and now they are Trevecca Trojans For Life.
