NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's soccer team's (1-4-1, 0-2-1) comeback fell short to visiting Ohio Dominican University (2-4-1, 1-2-1) losing 3-2 at the Trevecca Soccer Complex on Saturday afternoon.

THE SERIES

With today's result, the Panthers push ahead in the all-time series 3-2. Last season, the squads split the two matches with each team defending their home pitch. The final time the two squads suit up in the regular season will come on November 2 in Columbus.

THE MATCH

The Trevecca Soccer Complex was friendly to the early goal once more as Ohio Dominicans Jaxson Szabo scored the first of his three first half goals in the opening minute. The Panthers grabbed an early 2-0 lead when Szabo struck for the second time at 4:00. Szabo completed his hattrick at 37:55 in the first half giving the Panthers a 3-0 advantage at the break. Down three, the Trojans continued to attack. Reed Coffman scored his first goal at 65:59 which was unassisted. Just over five minutes later Coffman struck again, unassisted once more to pull the Trojans within one at 71:32. The equalized was not available even though the Trojans outshot the Panthers 16-1 in the final 45 minutes.

Reed Coffman scored the two Trojan goals and now has three for the season.

WHAT THE RESULT MEANS

With the loss, the Trojans remain placed 10th in the G-MAC table missing the opportunity to pick up points.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Trojans travel to Ohio for two matches next week. On Thursday at 2:30 PM Trevecca faces Tiffin (4-0-2, 2-0-1) for the third time. The Dragons won the first two meetings. Trevecca then challenges the University of Findlay (4-2, 2-2) on Saturday at 2 PM. The Trojans claimed their first ever victory over the Oilers last season with a 3-1 result. Findlay leads 2-1 all-time.
