Trevecca Men's Soccer | Trojans Setup Four Match Homestand with Win @ Findlay

FINDLAY, Ohio – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's soccer team (2-5-1, 1-3-1 Great Midwest) won a road Great Midwest tilt, 2-1, at the University of Findlay (6-3, 3-3 Great Midwest) on Saturday at DeHaven Field.

THE SERIES

The series is level at 2-2 now, with the Trojans taking the last two in the series.  

 

THE MATCH

Trojan Michael Martey scored his first career goal in the 22nd minute to put the Trojans up 1-0. The Martey tally held until Reed Coffman scored his fourth of the season on the third assist of the season from Bryce-Austin Wahy in the 79th minute. The two-goal edge did not last long as Oiler Jack Atkinson scored off an assist from Josh Hales in the 86th minute. The Trojans were able to run out the final few minutes to put a W on their road sheet.

Garrett Arbogast had a game-high seven saves. Will Thompson saved five of the six Oiler shots on goal.  

 

WHAT THE RESULT MEANS

The Trojans get their first W in conference play and setup a four-match home streak.  

 

WHAT'S NEXT 

The Trojans host the next four matches on their playbill. First is a Tuesday (10.08) tilt with Kentucky Wesleyan College (3-5, 1-4 Great Midwest) at 5:00 PM. It is a reschedule of the match originally started on September 28th when the lights at the Trevecca soccer complex extinguished just before the second period was to begin. The match will play in full.

 

Next is nationally-ranked Lake Erie College (9-0, 5-0 Great Midwest) at 7:00 PM on Friday (10-11).  

 

The following weekend presents the final two home regular season matches for the Trojans On the Hill. Malone University (1-4-2, 0-4-1 Great Midwest) visits on Thursday, October the 17th at 7:00 PM and Saturday (10.19) it is Walsh University (6-1-1, 2-1-1 Great Midwest) taking on the Trojans at 4:30 PM.

 

The Trojans are 11-3-1 versus the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers, but KWC took the last meeting 2-1 at Trevecca in 2018. The Trojans had gone 6-0-1 in the previous seven meetings.

 

The Lake Erie Storm and Trojans are even 1-1 in the newly created series. The Storm took the last meeting, in 2018, 2-0 in Painesville, Ohio. The Trojans 4-0 versus Malone. The Trojans are 2-0 versus the Pioneers in matches played On the Hill. The Walsh Cavaliers arrive in Nashville to give one of the two teams an edge in the series which currently even at 1-1.
