NASHVILLE - The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (6-8, 4-6 G-MAC) defeated Great Midwest Athletic Conference opponent, Ohio Valley University (5-10, 3-8 G-MAC), 3-2 (19-25, 25-23, 29-27, 19-25, 15-12) on Friday night in the Trojan Fieldhouse.

TNU leads the all-time series, 5-3. The Trojans have taken the last two contests, both in five sets and have never lost at home to Ohio Valley.

The Trojans jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead, but were tied at 5-5 … OVU opened up a 9-5 lead which was not relinquished … OVU took the first set 25-19 … in the second set the Trojans fell behind 8-2 before rallying back to tie the match at 16-16 … the Trojans led at 17-16 and closed off the set, 25-23 … the third set went back and forth the entire way before the Trojans finished it off at 29-27 … the Trojans took the first four points of set four, 4-0 … OVU tied it at 8-8 … OVU opened up a 6 point lead at 17-11 which was cut to 2 at 20-18 … OVU claimed set four, 25-19 … the fifth set went back and forth the entire way … the Trojans 3-0 run at 12-12 was the difference … a Hannah Bornemann (FR/Oswego, IL) service ace along with back to back attack errors by OVU handed the Trojans the match.

Austyn Baldwin (FR/Kingston Springs, TN) led the way with 17 kills for the Trojans and finished at (17 K, 5 E, 25 TA | .343) … Mary Holmberg (JR/San Marcos, CA) hit the best at (10 K, 1 E, 22 TA | .409) … Claire Hindman (FR/Westfield, IN) produced a team-high 23 digs while Madison Martin (FR/Martinsville, IN) added 17 of her own … while Hannah Bornemann had a team-high 21 assists.

TROJAN TEAM TRENDS

The Trojans hit .276 (12 K, 4 E, 29 TA) in the fourth set and held OVU to .033 in the fifth and final set.
