OWENSBORO, KY. - The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (2-2) completed play in the Kentucky Wesleyan College Invitational (KWC Invitational Home) on Saturday by splitting a pair of matches.

The Trojans defeated Oakland City University (0-3) 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-22) before falling to Maryville University - St. Louis (3-4, 0-0 GLVC) 3-0 (25-20, 25-12, 25-23) at KWC's Woodward Center.

GAME 1 CHRONICLE

Trevecca 3, Oakland City 0

Trevecca jumped out to a 6-1 lead and did not look back … OCU managed to make the first set interesting when they rattled off four straight points and trailed 23-20 … TNU closed out the set off a kill from Lydia Yonce and an OCU attacking error … TNU took the first point of the second set, but relinquished the lead shortly after ... OCU managed to take a 4-2 lead before the Trojans put together a 6-0 run (8-4) … OCU responded and tied the match at 8-8 … the set was never tied again though OCU stayed within 2-3 points for most of the set … the Trojans closed the set on a 10-2 run and won the set 25-15 … TNU claimed the opening point for the third straight set … TNU held a 6-1 lead in the beginning stages … the set was tied twice (12-12, 19-19) … OCU drew within two (24-22) … Austyn Baldwin had the final kill to give the Trojans the match.

Trevecca is 9-2 in the NCAA era versus Oakland City.

Madison Clements led TNU with a .500 (7 K, 0 E, 14 TA) hitting percentage ... six different Trojans had at least one kill … Mary Holmberg (10) reached the double-digit kill mark … Lydia Yonce had a team-high 12 digs while Leilani Victor had 17 assists.

Trevecca hit .297 in the second set (17 K, 6 E, 37 TA), for the match TNU hit .244% (47 K, 18 E, 119 TA) … Oakland City was held to a .110% hitting percentage.

GAME 2 CHRONICLE

The Trojans jumped out to a 5-1 lead before Maryville-St. Louis managed their second point … UMSL went on a 6-0 run to take an 8-5 advantage … the teams played to a 15-15 tie … the teams traded points before UMS closed out the set 25-20 … TNU took the first point of set two … UMSL then took a 6-2 lead … the Trojans rallied to cut their deficit to two at 8-6 but could not come closer … UMSL took set two, 25-12 … the third set began with several ties and lead changes … TNU took its first lead at 8-7 … the Trojan led by as many as three in the third set (16-13) … with the score tied at 23-23, UMSL hit two consecutive service aces to win the match.

On Monday, the Trojans host Ursuline College (3-2, 0-0 G-MAC) at 6 pm in Trojan Fieldhouse. TNU is 6-5 all-time against the Arrows.

On Tuesday, the Trojans face Lake Erie College (4-1, 0-0 G-MAC) at 6 pm in Trojan Fieldhouse. TNU is 0-1 all-time vs the Storm, dropping last season's match in three sets.
