NCAA YELLOW CARE INFRACTION EXPLANATION/CONSEQUENCES
NCAA rules regarding student-athlete yellow card accumulation dictate a player sit out after accumulating five yellow cards. Though a Trevecca student-athlete sat out a match, he had not yet collected five yellow cards. Due to the clerical error, the player participated in a contest, following accumulation of the fifth yellow card, in which they should not have participated.Â
Â
Per NCAA rules, the Trevecca student-athlete must sit two additional matches. Part of the oversight consists of implications for a coach if an error in monitoring accumulation and the head coach is required to sit out four contests.Â
Â
All records and statistics will continue to count for all teams, but if a team wins a game with an ineligible player, Conference rules dictated the points garnered in the conference standings will be deducted. Trevecca did win a match with the player ineligible and will lose three points in the conference standings.Â
