INDIANAPOLIS - The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (7-13, 5-8 G-MAC) fell to William Jewell College (6-17, 2-9 GLVC), 3-0 (25-27, 16-25, 23-25) on Friday in their opening match of the 11thannual Midwest Regional Volleyball Crossover.

9:00 AM – Court #1 – vs Lake Superior State (#11 GLIAC)

3:00 PM – Court #2 – vs Quincy (#12 GLVC) 

** The regional volleyball event features 38 NCAA Division II Midwest region programs including 12 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC), 14 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), and 12 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). **

** The schedule is set up according to a seeding system based on each team's performance this season. Trevecca is the #9 seed from the Great Midwest. The Trojans will play three games in the event. One on Friday and two on Saturday. **

** It is the nation's largest collegiate volleyball tournament at one venue. This year it is being held at the Academy Volleyball Club in Indianapolis. **

SERIES HISTORY

The Trojans and Cardinals are tied 2-2 in the all-time series. Before today, their last meeting in 2016 was WJC's only victory in the series which took five sets.

GAME CHRONICLE  

Trevecca 0, William Jewell College 3 

The Trojans jumped out to a 3-1 lead did not surrender the lead until WJC went ahead 8-9 … from there TNU battled back to tie it at 12-12 and secured an 18-15 lead late in the set … the Trojans went up 25-24 and then surrendered three straight points to drop the set … the Trojans again led 3-1 early in the set … WJC tied it at 4-4 and maintained its lead the rest of the way … TNU cut it to one at 10-11, before WJC used a 5-0 run to lead 16-10 … WJC won the second set, 25-16 … TNU once again jumped out to a 3-1 lead until WJC tied it at 5-5 … TNU opened up a three-point lead at 14-11, WJC tied it once more at 16-16 … down 19-23, the Trojans rattled off four straight to tie the match at 23-23 … WJC closed out the set and match off an attacking error by TNU and a kill, 25-23.

TOP TROJANS

Austyn Baldwin (FR/Kingston Springs, TN) led the team with nine kills and a .333 attack percentage … Hannah Bornemann (FR/Oswego, IL) had a team-high 29 assists … Lydia Yonce (FR/Nashville, TN) (14) and Madison Martin (FR/Martinsville, IN) (12) both had double-digit dig totals … Claire Hindman (FR/Westfield, IN) had two of Trevecca's four service aces.

TROJAN TEAM TRENDS

Trojans hit .126 (35 K, 22 E, 103 TA) for the match and produced an 49-42 advantage in digs.  

WHAT'S NEXT 

The Trojans conclude their Midwest Region Crossover with two matchups on Saturday.

At 9 AM, Trevecca plays Lake Superior State (3-16, 2-9 GLIAC) on Court #1. TNU and LSSU have never met before.

At 3 PM, Trevecca finishes the tournament playing Quincy University (10-12, 2-9 GLVC) on Court #2. TNU and QU have played just once before, the Hawks securing the five set victory in 2016.
