NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (9-6, 2-0 G-MAC) defeated Oakland City University (5-6) in three sets (25-17, 25-22, 25-19). Trevecca leads the all-time series 7-2 with the Mighty Oaks.

The Trojans fell behind 5-1 in the first set and rallied for a 12-12 tie. The set remained close until the Trojans broke a 16-16 tie by closing out the set on a 9-1 run for the 25-17 victory.

The second set was also close with neither team able to build more than a three-point edge.

Trevecca broke a 15-15 tie with a four point run and settled for that margin and a 25-22 set victory.

Trevecca opened the third set on a 7-1 run and kept that margin throughout the set as the Trojans and Oaks played even volleyball throughout the remainder of the set. Trevecca finished off the set and the match with a 25-19 victory.

Katelyn Atkinson (SR/Hermitage, TN) led the Trojans with 10 kills on the night. Claire Taylor collected nine kills. Taylor tied for the lead in service aces with Hanna Matthews (FR/Ooltewah, TN), each tallied two. Claire Reinthaler (JR/Heyworth, IL) led the team in block with four.

Trevecca returns to action on September 30th at 7 PM when the Trojans host Ohio Valley University (4-13, 0-0 G-MAC). Trevecca is 2-2 against the Fighting Scots, winning their last meeting.
