Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (5-4) beat the University of Southern Indiana (5-4) in three sets, at the Trojan Fieldhouse. Trevecca is now 1-2 against the Screaming Eagles all-time.

Trevecca faced USI in 2014 and 2015 with the Eagles claiming both matches in three sets. Tonight the Trojans beat the Eagles 25-22, 25-21, 25-21. The Trojans lost all six sets previously against the Eagles, but responded with a sweep of their own in breaking through for the first win in the series.ÂÂ

During the first set the Trojans found themselves down 22-20, but rallied with five consecutive points to close out the set. The run included two kills by
Alex Reuter and a service ace by Hannah Matthews. This set win is the first set victory for Trevecca against the Eagles all time.

Trevecca led 14-8 in the second set, but USI rallied to tie the match at 15-15. Trevecca regained a three-point edge and did not give up the lead again.ÂÂ

A 8-4 Trevecca lead is how the third set started. USI took a 10-9 advantage after a 6-1 run. Though the Screaming Eagles closed the gap to one at 17-16, they failed to tie or take the lead the rest of the way.ÂÂ

Trevecca returns to action on Sept. 17 at 3 PM when they take on William Jewell College (4-4) at the Bellarmine University (Louisville, Ky.) tri-match. Trevecca is 2-0 versus the Cardinals. The two teams played in 2015, the Trojans won in three sets, and in 2007 where they won in four sets. Trevecca will play the host Bellarmine Knights at 5:30 PM.

Trevecca hit .318 in the their final set with 18 kills an only four errors in 44 tries.
Katelyn Atkinson had 12 kills, seven digs, and four blocks.
Alex Reuter tallied seven kills with no errors in 14 total attacks.
