Box Score EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (12-10) lost in a Midwest Region match at the University of Southern Indiana (17-7) in straight sets 3-0 (25-22, 26-24, 25-12) at the PAC on the USI campus Tuesday.
The match ends a stretch of 12 road contests in the last 13 for the Trojans. TNU will play the next five at home before ending the regular season with a road game at Kentucky Wesleyan College.
Next for Trevecca is a match with Great Midwest Athletic Conference foe Cedarville University (12-13, 6-1 G-MAC) at the Trojan Fieldhouse on Friday, October 30 at 6 PM. Cedarville leads the series 7-2 and have a two-match win streak in the series. Ursuline College (7-19, 3-4 G-MAC) visits on Saturday for a 1 PM match at the Fieldhouse. The Trojans are 4-3 all-time versus the Arrows, having won two of the last three including a five-set win in Pepper Pike, Ohio on October 2nd.
USI leads the all-time series 2-0 following the win.
Alex Reuter (FR/Brentwood, TN) led TNU with 12 kills and a .476 attack percentage. Allison Boe (SR/Murrieta, CA) had 19 digs. Loren Bennett (SR/Ooltewah, TN) had 30 assists and nine digs. Clare Taylor (FR/Milan, TN) had 13 digs. Katelyn Atkinson (JR/Hermitage, TN) had 11 kills.
The second set was the turning point when there were 13 ties and four lead changes. USI opened up a 12-7 lead after the match was tight early on. Trevecca bounced back and took the lead 16-15 with a 9-3 run. The Trojans and Screaming Eagles battled tight with the Trojans holding a lead for a good portion of the rest of the match. Trevecca led 23-22 and after USI moved ahead 24-23, the Trojans tied it at 24-24 on a kill by Alex Reuter. The hosts got a side out and then served out for the win and a 2-0 advantage.
