Trevecca Men's Soccer | Sherer Shuts Out Panthers

OWENSBORO, Ky. - The Trevecca (4-5, 3-3 G-MAC) men's soccer team defeated Kentucky Wesleyan College (1-7-1, 0-5-1 G-MAC) 3-0 on Thursday at Steele Field. 

 
Next for Trevecca is a visit to Salem (WV) International University on October 8th at 2 PM. The Tigers own a 3-1 edge in the series and have a three-match win streak going against the Trojans. In the first meeting between the two G-MAC teams this year, SIU defeated TNU 3-2 in Nashville on September 19th. 
 
The Purple and White own a 6-1 edge in the all-time series with the Panthers. TNU held a 5-0 edge in the series before KWC took their first match of the series in the last meeting on October 18, 2014, 3-1 in Owensboro. The teams will meet in Nashville at the Trojan Soccer Complex on Oct. 27 at 7 PM.
 
As the first half of the match wound down, Liam Roche (JR/Northhampton, England) scored a goal in the 43rd minute (43:05) to put the Trojans up at the half. It is the first goal of the season for Roche and his third career goal. Jordan Gilmore (JR/Portadown, Northern Ireland) assisted on the goal from a corner kick. It is the first assist and points of the year for Gilmore. 
 
The Panthers and Trojans combined for just seven total shots and a mere three shots on goal in the first period. 
 
The score remained 1-0 TNU until late in the second period when Trevecca's Ryan Hogan (JR/Ballincollig, Ireland), scored on a penalty kick in the 84th minute (84:38). It is his second good penalty kick, third goal of the season. 
 
Nicolas Reinhard (FR/Germany) scored the final tally in the 86th minute (86:17) unassisted. It is the third goal of the year for the freshman. Victor Tsado (SO/Nigeria) assisted on the goal on a through ball. It is the first assist and point of the year for Tsado. 
 
Trevecca keeper Stephen Sherer (SO/Medina, TN) produced the shutout on two total saves. Sherer is now 2-0 on the year in goal.
