Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Trevecca volleyball team (8-7, 0-0 G-MAC) lost a heartbreaker at the Trojan Fieldhouse on Tuesday. Trevecca, which led two sets to none, lost the final three sets to Kentucky State University (13-7) 3-2 (25-21, 25-18, 13-25, 17-25, 12-15).

Trevecca returns to action on Friday when they begin Great Midwest Athletic Conference play against Central State University (0-4, 0-3 G-MAC) at 7 p.m. at the Trojan Fieldhouse.

Trevecca took an early lead in the first set, but found themselves down 9-6. Trevecca chipped away and tied the match at 10-10. Neither team could get separation until Trevecca, leading 21-20 at the time, outscored KSU 4-1 to close out the set with a 25-21 victory. Trevecca kept the momentum in the second set and lead 10-2. Trevecca kept their distance the rest of the way and settled for a 25-18 victory.

KSU did outscore TNU 7-2 down the stretch of the second set and continued that momentum into the third. With Trevecca leading 8-7 the Thorobreds flipped a switch and took a 13-9 lead with a 6-2 run. They would not trail again in the third set. In fact, they would not trail again in the final three sets. KSU won the third set 25-13 and then opened the fourth set with a 11-2 run and were never seriously threatened.

The fifth set provided some interesting dynamics. The Thorobreds opened the set on fire still and lead 5-1. Trevecca rallied on the serve of Allison Boe (JR/Murrieta, Calif.) to close the gap to 5-4. The Trojans tied the match 5-4 when the Kentucky State coach was ejected from the match for arguing a call on the previous point. Following her dismissal the Thorobreds scored six straight points for an 11-5 lead. The push was enough to hold off the Trojans 15-12.

After producing just seven combined attack errors in the first two sets, Trevecca had 21 errors in the next two sets. Latosha Scott had a .510 attack percentage for Kentucky State. She had 16 kills with just two errors in 27 chances. Katelyn Atkinson (SO/Hermitage, Tenn.) led Trevecca with 16 kills and 13 digs. Stephanie Bochard also reached a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs. Kristina Pruitt (FR/Arlington, Tenn.) had 11 digs while Danielle Moll (FR/Gilbert, Ariz.) had 34 assists and eight digs.  ÂÂ
