Box Score VIENNA, W.Va. – The Trevecca volleyball team (14-10, 5-5 G-MAC) dropped a tough one on the road to Ohio Valley University (13-19, 4-6 G-MAC) 3-2 (25-16, 27-25, 19-24, 15-25, 13-15) in the Snyder Activity Center on Friday. Trevecca took a 2-0 lead before losing the final three.

Trevecca dominated the first set with a .224 (14-3-49) attack percentage. TNU led 11-10 when Delaney Hearne produced a side out with a kill for Trevecca. Hearne was up on serve and rolled off five straight to put the Trojans up 17-10. Later Trevecca closed the match with a 7-1 run for the 25-16 victory.

Trevecca opened set two with a 10-4 advantage, but this set would see the Fighting Scots tie the match at 12-12. Trevecca rolled off a 8-2 run to establish a 20-14 advantage. The Scots turned the table and actually had the set-point serve in their hands. OVU took a 25-24 lead and were serving for the win after an 11-4 run stunned the Trojans. Hearne again came through with a set-changing kill to tie the match and Kristen Johnson served Trevecca to the win with two straight points on serve.

In set three it looked like Trevecca was on its way to a three-set sweep after building a 15-10 lead. The Scots made a run that changed the momentum of the set and the match. A 10-2 OVU run put the Scots on top 20-17 and held off the Trojans with a 4-2 sprint to the finish for a 25-19 win.

After a early lead for Trevecca, Ohio Valley took control of set four and led 12-6. The Trojans really never challenged only closing the gap to four (16-12) once the rest of the way. The Scots evened the match at 2-2 with a 25-16 victory.

The fourth and deciding set swayed back and forth a couple of times and was in doubt till the end. A quick early TNU lead turned into a 7-4 OVU advantage. Trevecca find their balance and took an 8-7 lead at the side change. The Fighting Scots regained the lead at 11-8 before the Trojans tied the match at 13-13 with the serve. A Trojan service error and an attack error sealed a 15-13 set and match victory for the home standing Scots. ÂÂ

Katelyn Atkinson and Delaney Hearne paced the Trojans with 14 kills apiece. Hearne had a .379 attack percentage and added nine digs, two service aces, and seven blocks. Caroline Gay (23) and Loren Bennett (22) topped the Trojans in assists and Bennett added 15 digs, four kills, four blocks, and three service aces. Shelby Sorce had a team high 29 digs. Kristen Johnson had 22 digs and six kills.

Trevecca stays on the road and will visit Ursuline College (15-14, 4-6 G-MAC) on Saturday at 3 p.m. The match will be played at Laurel School in Shaker Heights, Ohio. The Ursuline gym was damaged by weather this summer and the Arrows will not be able to host any home events there this year. Trevecca leads the all-time series 2-1. The Arrows defeated Trevecca 3-0 in the G-MAC Crossover earlier this year. Trevecca won the first two meetings, both last year, in three sets. The two teams have never played each other on the other teams home court. All four meetings, including Saturday's match, will have been played at a neutral site.
