Box Score OAKLAND CITY, Ind. – Mitch Stahl scored a game-high 30 points as Oakland City (16-3) used a 14-4 run to in the first half to gain a lead it would never relinquish as it defeated Trevecca Nazarene (6-12, 1-1 G-MAC) 78-67 Saturday afternoon in a non-conference men's basketball game at the Johnson Center.

Cameron LeFear added 21 points converting 8-of-9 from the free throw line.  Kendall Wittmer totaled 11 points and dished out five assists while Brandon Morton recorded a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Trevor Smith chipped in with four points, four rebounds, a game-high six assists and three blocked shots.

Marquise Rudolph led TNU with 21 points including a perfect 8-for-8 at the free throw line, five assists and three steals. Maliek Daniels recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Trailing 17-16 after a Rudolph three-pointer with 10:10 remaining in the first half, Stahl would lead the Mighty Oaks with 6-of-its-next-14 points to gain a 30-21 lead with 5:07 left.

Stahl scored 12 in the opening half as Oakland City took a 32-27 lead into the break. They hit 50% (11-of-22) from the field and 8-of-9 (88.9%) from the free throw line.

Rudolph led Trevecca with 11 first-half points as the Trojans hit just 11-of-30 (36.7%) from the field and 2-of-11 (18.2%) from-three point range.

In the second half, Stahl would add 18 more points as Oakland City would maintain its lead.ÂÂ

Trevecca cut the deficit to three points (34-31) again after a Nick Drake layup about three minutes into the second half. However, a 9-2 run concluded with a Cameron LeFear layup with 12:56 left put the Mighty Oaks up 10 points (43-33).

Oakland City would fend off one more Trevecca run before pulling away. Trailing by 10, the Trojans pulled the game to within four points (51-47) after two Rudolph free throws.

That would be the closest TNU would get the rest of the way as OCU pulled away in the final two minutes winning 78-67.

The Mighty Oaks shot 47.7% (21-of-44) from the field and were 32-of-35 (91.4%) from the free throw line. OCU's bench out-scored Trevecca's 13-11 and converted 15 Trojans turnovers into 19 points.

Trevecca finished the game shooting 31.9% (23-of-72) taking 28 more shots than Oakland City. The Trojans held an 18-2 advantage in second-chance points.

The Trojans return to action Feb. 2 at G-MAC opponent Urbana (9-11, 0-2 G-MAC) for a 2 p.m. tipoff.
