Trevecca Gains Road Win @ Undefeated Oakland City

OAKLAND CITY, Ind. - The Trevecca volleyball team (8-3) defeated previously undefeated Oakland City University (8-1) in five sets on Tuesday night. The Trojans downed the Mighty Oaks 25-22, 25-27, 27-29, 26-24, 15-9. Not only did the match go five sets, but it required extra points in three of the five sets. Just one of the first four sets were decided by more than two points and that one, the first set, was decided in three points.

Jenna Robertson led the way with 14 kills and three service aces while adding five block assists. Amy Bottomlee had an all-around game with 11 kills, 17 digs, 23 assistss, and two service aces. Shelby Sorce added 12 kills and 13 digs. Kristen Johnson had a team-high 33 assists and seven block assists while adding a solo block. Persephonie Devereaux had 10 kills and five block assists. Loren Bennett led the team with 29 digs.

Trevecca Head Coach Jayme Crowley was pleased with her team, "We went on the road and defeated an undefeated team. We played tough and as a team. We earned this win. The Olivet trip made a difference in our toughness and benefitted our effort tonight."

"The veterans played well and under pressure and Jenna stood out," added Crowley. "Kristen was her usual leader and team player. The freshmen played lights out. Amy Bottomlee had her best match as a collegiate players and Loren Bennett played great defense. Delaney and Caroline played steady for us as well. I'm excited about our performance and look forward to building on it this weekend at Emory."

Trevecca will play four games in two days this weekend at the Emory University Invitational near Downtown Atlanta. On Friday Trevecca will play Williams College (6-1) Ephs at 2:30 and Maryville College (7-5) Scots at 7:30 p.m. Saturday the Trojans will face Randolph Macon (7-0) Yellow Jackets at 10 a.m. and Elmhurst College (7-3) Blue Jays at 12:30 p.m.
