Box Score 2 PULASKI, Tenn. - The Trojan softball team (24-12-1, 13-5-1 TranSouth) dropped a pair of games at #RV Martin Methodist (27-15, 11-7 TranSouth) Thursday afternoon, losing the opener 9-0 in five innings before falling 3-1 in the nightcap.
Game OneThe RedHawks wasted no time jumping on top in the first game, scoring twice in the first inning off Trojan starter
Riley Mashburn. Martin Methodist added three more runs in the third and put the game away with four runs in the fourth.
Catcher Veronika Fukunishi was the offensive star for MMC, going 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, three RBI, two runs, and a stolen base.
The Trojans managed just four hits off RedHawks pitcher Chrissy Darnell (12-1), who struck out two and walked one in five shutout innings. Mashburn (7-6) took the loss for Trevecca, allowing nine runs on 10 hits in 3.2 innings.
Game TwoTrevecca scored first in the nightcap, taking a 1-0 lead on an RBI single by
Lauren Baker in the top of the third inning. But Martin Methodist responded quickly, scoring a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 2-1 lead.
The RedHawks added to their lead with another run in the sixth, and the Trojans couldn't muster any more offense against Martin Methodist starter Chrissy Worth.
Worth (9-5) earned the complete game victory, giving up just four hits and one run, with four strikeouts and one walk. Baker (8-4) took the loss for the Trojans, allowing three runs on five hits in 5.2 innings, with two strikeouts and six walks.
The Trojans will host Bethel University (12-18, 7-15 TranSouth) Saturday at 4 p.m.
