Box Score

NASHVILLE – Haley Taylor's 15 kills and 12 digs lifted Oakland City University (21-3) to a four-set win over Trevecca Nazarene University (19-12) Thursday night at the Trojan Fieldhouse.

The loss snapped a four-match winning streak for Trevecca.

Tya Harmon recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 14 digs while Alicia Goedde added 11 kills of her own.  Alicia Hartley chipped in with 10 kills, three aces and eight digs.  Allison Eads handed out 51 assists. Carleigh Johnson paced the Mighty Oaks defense with 27 digs and added 10 kills.

Trevecca's Kristen Johnson recorded a triple-double with 12 kills, a team-high 20 assists and 15 digs.  Allison Boe contributed a season-best 10 kills and added 11 digs while Jenna Robertson had a team-best 15 kills and a .560 hitting percentage. Loren Bennett and Shelby Sorce paced the Trojan defense with 25 digs and 20 digs, respectively.

The first set featured seven ties and three lead changes.  The set would go back and forth with neither team holding more than a two-point lead. With the set tied at 19, the Mighty Oaks would score three-of-the-next four points to go up 23-20 following a Taylor kill. Trevecca pulled its deficit to two points (24-22), however, a Goedde kill ended the first set in favor of OCU.

Following a Robertson kill in set two that brought the score to 6-6, the Mighty Oaks would go on a 12-4 run to go up 18-10. The Trojans aided that stretch with six errors. Oakland City would lead by as many as 10 in set two on its way to a 25-16 win. Harmon and Goedde would lead their team with three kills in the set.

Needing to win set three to avoid losing, Trevecca responded with Boe and Amy Bottomlee leading with three kills each.  Johnson gave the Trojans its biggest lead in the set after a kill (18-11).

The Mighty Oaks would wrap the match up in the fourth set though winning 25-21.  Following a 12-6 OCU run to open the set, Trevecca would rally to cut the deficit to one (14-13) following a Bottomlee kill. It would be the closest the Trojans would get the rest of the way. Taylor led the Mighty Oaks with nine kills in the final set.

Trevecca returns to action Nov. 1 as they travel to nearby Cumberland University (7-22) for a 6 p.m. match.
