Box Score MAYFIELD, Ky. - The Trevecca volleyball team (13-9, 7-2 TranSouth) completed a season sweep of Mid-Continent (6-17, 1-8) Thursday night with a 3-2 (21-25, 25-17, 23-25, 25-17, 15-9) victory over the Cougars. The Trojans won all three matches against Mid-Continent this season, and have never lost to MCU.
"I'm really pleased with our effort," said Head Coach Jayme Crowley. "We faced a tough road environment here tonight, but we embraced that adversity and stuck together to get a big road win."
Jenna Robertson and
Brittany Eller led Trevecca with 16 kills apiece, as the Trojans totaled 57 kills on the night.
Kristen Johnson added 11 kills, and also contributed 17 digs, six assists, and five block assists.
"Jenna was great on the attack for us tonight," added Coach Crowley. "And
Haley White and
Jaimee Havens both played big roles as well. White was a digging machine, and Havens had several big blocks at the net for us."
White totaled 26 digs to lead Trevecca, while Havens came off the bench to contribute six block assists, two kills, and one dig.
Halley Wiggins tallied 45 assists on the night, and also added 14 digs, five kills, three block assists, and one service ace.
"Mid-Continent really made us work for everything we got," said Coach Crowley. "The girls really battled, and we're thrilled to come away with the victory."
The Trojans will travel to Atlanta, Ga., for a pair of matches Saturday in the Emory University National Tournament. Trevecca plays Maryville College (13-5) at 1 p.m. and Piedmont College (17-3) at 3 p.m.
