Alyssa Gage

Alyssa Gage joined the Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball program in the fall of 2019 and currently serves as Associate Head Coach. Since arriving on campus, she has steadily advanced through the coaching ranks—beginning as a Graduate Assistant, then serving as Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator before her promotion to Associate Head Coach. She also directs the Trevecca Regional Volleyball Team, further demonstrating her commitment to player development across all levels of the program.
In 2025, Gage was recognized nationally as one of the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s (AVCA) Thirty Under 30 award recipients, honoring her leadership and impact within collegiate volleyball.
Since her arrival, Gage has been instrumental in Trevecca’s rise as a competitive force. In her first season, the Trojans more than doubled their win total—from seven to sixteen—and earned a spot in the conference tournament. That season also produced the program’s first G-MAC Freshman of the Year and two All-Conference honorees. Under her guidance, Trevecca reached new heights with a record-tying 21-win season in 2022 and a trip to the G-MAC Championship Finals.
Gage specializes in the development of pin hitters and middle blockers. Her coaching has produced multiple record-breaking performances, including Ellie Buffler’s 1,000 career kills and All-GMAC First Team recognition, Emma Green’s single-season blocking record, and the 2024 Gulf South Conference’s top blocking unit. That season, junior Reese Payne set a new program record with 130 blocks, while senior Mackenzie O’Loughlin added 108. Both earned GSC Player of the Week honors, with O’Loughlin earning All-GSC First Team and multiple All-Tournament selections.
As Recruiting Coordinator, Gage has played a key role in shaping Trevecca’s future—bringing in high-caliber student-athletes who have strengthened both the varsity and Regional/JV programs. Her recruiting classes have consistently delivered high-impact players who have elevated the Trojans’ competitiveness year after year.
Before beginning her coaching career, Gage was a standout collegiate player. She began at the College of Central Florida, earning All-Conference and All-Tournament honors while helping lead the program to consecutive conference championships. She later transferred to Southern Connecticut State University, where she played a pivotal role in the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance and NE10 Conference Championship. Gage was named NE10 MVP, earned All-Region and All-ECAC honors, and was recognized as an AVCA All-America Honorable Mention.
A native of Lecanto, Florida, Gage graduated from Seven Rivers Christian School. She holds an associate degree from the College of Central Florida, a bachelor’s in interdisciplinary studies from Southern Connecticut State University, and a master’s in healthcare administration from Trevecca Nazarene University.
Her success as both a player and coach, combined with her leadership and competitive drive, continues to shape the standard of excellence within the Trevecca volleyball program.
