Petty  is from Horn Lake, Miss., is transferring from Northwest Mississippi Junior College where he played two seasons with the Rangers … in his sophomore season with the NW Rangers, Petty averaged 7.8 points and 3.5 rebounds while playing 15 games with 13 starts … he played an average of 20.7 minutes a game and shot 40% from the field … he had 17 assists, 12 steals, and two blocks … as a freshman during the 2013-14 season Petty played in all 24 games and averaged 4.2 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 12.8 minutes per contest … he added 25 assists, 13 steals and a block … he turned in double figures scoring twice. First he added 13 vs Arkansas Baptist and scored 10 versus Gulf Coast … he shot 38 percent from the floor and 74 percent from the free throw line …

HIGH SCHOOL NOTES

While playing for Tori Harris at Horn Lake High School he averaged 16.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game as the Eagles' lone senior … he recorded double figures scoring in all but three games as a senior … that included six 20-point games … the Eagles finished 19-7 overall and won the Mississippi High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Region 1-6A championship … Petty was named BankPlus Player of the Week and selected to the Best of the Preps team … his parents are Trina and Sebastian Petty. His sister is named Sasha.
