2017-18

Scored more than 30 points in four different games this season ... Finished with 37 points in the Trojans 104-71 against Ohio Valley ... scored a career-high 38 in the Trojans 97-83 win at Ohio Valley ...Whitfield's 38 and 37 point games are the most by a Trojan in the NCAA Division II era and the most by a Trojan since Michael France scored 43 in 2012 ... ended his sophomore season with 907 career points ... averaged 20.5 points per game, shooting 46.9% from three-point range and adding in 6.5 rebounds per game ... Whitfield's 20.5 points per game are the most for a Trojan in the NCAA era, and the most for any Trojan since Brian Oduor averaged 20.9 points per game during the 2008-2009 season ... ends the regular season as the second-leading scorer in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference ... Whitfield shot 49.8% (148-297) from the field and 46.9% (46-98) from three-point range ... led the team in assists (88) and was second in rebounding (6.5 RPG) ... finished third (15) in blocks and added the fourth most steals (24) ... selected as the G-MAC Athlete of the Week for (01/15/18) and (02/26/18) ... earned TSWA Player of the Week for (11/14/17). 

2016-17

The Conference All-Freshman team member was on the court for the most minutes per game (35.6) in the conference ... he also had the sixth most points per game (15.7) and tied for tenth best in the conference in rebounds per game (5.3) and defensive rebounds per game (3.9) ... he was eighth in free throw percentage (.681) ... Whitfield also was tied for eighth in blocked shots per game (0.5)

HIGH SCHOOL NOTES

Whitfield played for James Poindexter at McAdory High School and scored a school-record 1723 career points … not only did he letter four years in basketball, but also lettered two years on the baseball team … he played six years of AAU basketball helping his team to the 2013 & 2014 AAU State Championships … his awards include section to the all-county basketball team … his parents are Darren Sr. and Sharon Whitfield.
