Transfer from the University of Memphis where he played for Tigers head coach Darron Schoenrock ... sat out the 2015 season ... returned in 2016 for his sophomore campaign with seven appearances in relief ... debuted with a perfect inning of relief against his hometown Middle Tennessee State University Blue Raiders ... started the year with a total of three consecutive appearances (Eastern Illinois, Southern Illinois) with perfect work and then added a scoreless inning of relief against East Carolina ... in 2014, as a freshman, he turned in a 3-0 record out of the bullpen with a 3.97 earned run average over 16 appearances and 34 innings of work ... overall he struck out 22 against 17 walks ... pitched in seven conference games, compiling a 1-0 record with a 3.38 ERA and seven punch outs ... picked up a three inning save against Alcorn State and pitched three-plus innings on seven occasions ... had nine scoreless outings, including a string of five-straight spanning 9.1 innings of work from April 13 versus the University of Central Florida to April 27 at the University of South Florida

Barry Messer coached Sutton at Murfreesboro Riverdale High School where Sutton produced a 9-2 record with a 1.40 earned run average his senior season with the Warriors ... at the plate he hit .350 with 11 home runs ... he pitched and played infield ... his awards included All-State, All-Region, and All-District while being named the district pitcher of the year ... earned many honors including; all-area, all-region and TBCA Second Team All-State selection his senior year ... the Warriors won back-to-back district, region and sub-state championships
