II era career (16) and season (9) saves record by collecting nine this season ... his nine saves were sixth-most in NCAA Division II this season ... produced a reliever-low 1.24 ERA over 29.0 innings of work ... struck out 27 batters who were .157 hitters off him ... had a 3-1 record and allowed just four runs all season ... named to the Great Midwest Athletic Conference first-team ... on the national level, Benard was selected to the 2021 D2CCA All-American and 2021 ABCA/Rawlings All-American Third Team ... Benard made three 2021 Midwest All-Region teams - ABCA/Rawlings Second Team, D2CCA First Team, NCBWA Second Team ... made the second-most appearances (17) by a reliever this season.
Finished his career with a 5-1 record and 16 saves. Made 43 appearances with 64.1 innings pitched, producing 64 strikeouts against 23 walks and had an average of 8.95 strikeouts per nine innings. Had a career era of 3.50.
2019-20
Made one appearance this season ... in his 1 inning of work he struck out one and allowed a walk ... the 2020 baseball season was shortened on March 13 due to COVID 19.
2018-19
Made 15 appearances over 21.2 innings for the Trojans ... had a team-best seven saves which were also third-most in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference ... struck out 24 batters who were hitting .203 against him ... was 1-0 with a 2.12 ERA ... named to the G-MAC second team.
2017-18
Appeared in nine games this season ... went 1-0 with nine strikeouts in 10.2 innings pitched.
