Lee Sponseller

Sponseller joined the Trevecca Trojan coaching staff prior to the 2026 season. 

At Trevecca, Sponseller oversees the Trojan offense and the outfielders, while also leading the recruiting efforts for the program.

In 2025, Sponseller served his alma mater, Mason High School (Cincinnati), as an assistant coach for the Comets. 

His first coaching experience came as a volunteer assistant coach at his college alma mater, Ohio Dominican University. Then joined the coaching staff at the University of Cincinnati as a volunteer assistant. 

On the field, Sponseller played at former Trevecca rival Ohio Dominican University before playing his final season at Coastal Carolina. 

With Mason High School, Sponseller helped the Comets capture a seventh straight GMC Championship. The 2025 Comets finished 22-7 and were the Regional Runner-up.

In three seasons at Cincinnati (2021, 2022, 2023), he assisted the Bearcat offense. 

In 2023, the Bearcats finished the season atop the AAC in walks while placing second in home runs and stolen bases.  

The 2022 Bearcats offense gained numerous honors, finishing the regular season as one of only three teams in the country with at least 80 home runs and 80 stolen bases. The team led the AAC in scoring, home runs, slugging percentage, and walks, while finishing second in stolen bases.

Sponseller helped Griffin Merritt, a Bearcat outfielder who earned the 2022 AAC Player of the Year honors.

The 2021 season, Sponseller’s first season coaching the Bearcat offense, helped the team to lead the conference in scoring while finishing second batting average, hits, runs, slugging percentage, and total bases, and finished third in home runs. 

The 2021 Bearcats finished the regular season ranked in the top 30 nationally in hits, stolen bases, and home runs.

Sponseller joined Ohio Dominican University in 2019, handling the team’s hitting, baserunning, and outfielders. The Panther offense led the Great Midwest Athletic Conference in scoring, hits, on base percentage, stolen bases, and walks; while finishing second in batting average.

As a player for the Panthers, Sponseller had a career batting average of .367 with 26 home runs and 108 RBI. 

In his one season at Coastal Carolina, Sponseller hit .290 with six home runs, 42 RBI, three grand slams. His production helped the Chanticleers to the Sun Belt Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships. The titles earned Coastal Carolina to hosting the 2018 NCAA Conway Regional. 

Sponseller earned a bachelor’s degree (2017) in finance and economics from Ohio Dominican and an MBA (2019) from Coastal Carolina.

Sponseller and his wife, Sidney, along with their son, Tre, reside in Mt. Juliet, Tenn.
