Josh Carman joined the Trevecca Nazarene University baseball coaching staff in 2022 ahead of the 2023 season under head coach Chase Sain. Since arriving on the Hill, Carman has served in various coaching and program support roles, contributing to player development, recruiting, offensive instruction and the overall success of the Trojan baseball program.
Carman has been part of a staff that has continued to build Trevecca’s NCAA Division II program. During his tenure, the Trojans have made two NCAA regional appearances, in 2024 and 2026, earning the program’s first NCAA Division II at-large postseason selection in 2026. Under Sain’s leadership, Trevecca has developed a reputation for competitive baseball, offensive production and sustained success at the conference and national levels.
Carman has helped develop Trevecca’s position players, working with hitters, infielders and catchers. During his time on the Hill, Trojan position players earning all-conference, all-region or All-America recognition include Joey Parliment, Haven Mangrum, Cole McCallum, Andru Becker and Cade Martin. Parliment earned All-America and first-team all-region honors in 2024, while Mangrum also received all-region recognition that season. Martin earned first-team All-Gulf South Conference honors in 2026 after producing one of the conference’s top offensive seasons.
Offensive production has been a defining part of the program during Carman’s tenure. Trevecca has consistently demonstrated power at the plate, including 63 home runs in 2025 and 66 in 2026. Carman’s approach emphasizes player development, offensive execution, defensive fundamentals and preparing student-athletes to compete at a high level.
Before joining Trevecca, Carman spent 14 years coaching high school baseball in Middle Tennessee, serving as both an assistant and head coach. During that time, he coached eight players who went on to sign professional baseball contracts.
In addition to his responsibilities at Trevecca, Carman serves as director of baseball for Full Count Ministries, overseeing baseball operations, collegiate summer baseball, player development and domestic and international baseball ministry initiatives. Through Full Count, Carman combines his passion for baseball with his commitment to developing young men on and off the field.
A lifelong Middle Tennessee resident, Carman has extensive relationships throughout the baseball community. His connection to Trevecca baseball runs deep as the nephew of former Trojan standout Kenny Thomas, the university’s first All-American in any sport and a member of the Trevecca Athletics Hall of Fame.
Carman and his wife, Brooke, have four children: Kylee, Kennedy, Tai and LiWei.
