GREENVILLE, Tenn. — In their first season under head coach Matheus Mello, the Trevecca Nazarene University women's soccer team scored 18 goals in 16 matches. Trevecca also settled for five draws during the season a year ago. So far in 2026, the Trojans have found more offense, and that has helped TNU exceed their win total of 2025 with six matches remaining in the regular season.
Trevecca (6-3-1) went on the road on Wednesday, and the Trojans tallied three more goals to bring their season-to-date total to 17 tallies, and Trevecca dispatched with the host Tusculum University Pioneers (1-8-0), 3-1.
THE SERIES
Believe it or not, this is the first meeting between the two Volunteer State foes, though that owes in part to the Trojans not beginning their soccer program until the year 2000, by which time the Pioneers were already in NCAA Division II, while the Trojans began while still in the NAIA.
THE MATCH
Tusculum took the first three shots of the match, but each time, Trevecca starting goalkeeper Mary Bauchou was equal to the task. Anna Farrell took the first Trojans' shot of the contest in the 20th minute, and that helped the Trojans ratchet up the pressure on the Pioneers. Trevecca continued to press, and as the 24th minute ticked down, the Trojans found the back of the net.
Olivia Ulfvin raced down the left wing side and she sent a cross to Farrell in the penalty area. Farrell flicked it on goal with a beautiful header, and it arched up and over Tusculum's Julia Olsson for the only goal of the opening stanza.
Trevecca added on in the opening minute of the second half. The Trojans took the kick off for the second half, and with a beautiful series of quick passes from Addison Brandon and Kate Nelson, Anna Allen found herself all alone versus Olsson. Allen put it in the bottom of the net - right off the base of the football goalpost in the exact center of the goal - and the Trojans lead was suddenly 2-0.
Tusculum clawed a goal back on a mis-communication in the 48th minute when Caroline Heintzelman took a corner and it skipped through the Trojans' defense and into the goal to pull the Pioneers within a goal, but the Trojans sealed things in the 84th minute.
Trevecca mounted a quick counter attack down the right wing side, as Farrell found Elsa Bengtsson sprinting down the wing all alone. The Pioneers got a defender back to stop Bengtsson, but she was able to slot a pass into the box where Kylie Bradshaw was crashing the net. Bradshaw got to the pass a fraction of a second before Olsson, and she powered a shot through and into the goal to cap the scoring in Trevecca's 3-1 win.

UP NEXT
Trevecca will return home for a crucial Gulf South Conference match on Saturday. The Trojans will welcome in the Lady Statesmen of Delta State University (3-3-3, 2-1-2 GSC). Trevecca is one point ahead of DSU in the standings as the season nears the halfway point, and both are within striking distance of earning home matches in the GSC Championship.
