NASHVILLE – Trevecca Nazarene University junior Wilson Borders is the Gulf South Conference Men's Golfer of the Week presented by Athletic Solutions for the week ending Tuesday, Sept. 15.
Borders opened the 2026-27 season with a fifth-place finish at the Griffin Invitational at Mission Inn Resort's El Campeon Course in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.
The junior finished the 54-hole tournament at one-under-par 215, carding rounds of 70, 73 and 72 on the par-72, 7,015-yard course. He opened with a two-under-par 70 and closed with an even-par 72, producing two par-or-better rounds.
Borders finished the tournament with nine birdies and 37 pars. He played the par-three holes at even par with a 3.00 scoring average and tied for fifth in the 65-player field on the par-four holes at one-over par with a 4.03 average.
His performance helped Trevecca climb seven positions during the tournament and finish third in the team standings. The Trojans posted an 880 (298-285-297), including a three-under-par 285 during the second round.
The 215 came within four strokes of Borders' Trevecca career-best 54-hole total of 211. His career-low round remains the six-under-par 66 he recorded at the Saint Leo Invitational in February 2026, a score tied for the third-lowest round in program history.
