Trevecca Softball | Kinderdine Blasts Walk-Off Grand Slam to Split Doubleheader with AUM

NASHVILLE, Tenn.  The Trevecca Nazarene University softball team (19-17, 15-17) opened its final Gulf South Conference series of the regular season Friday afternoon, splitting a doubleheader against No. 8 Auburn University Montgomery (40-9, 23-9) at the Trevecca Softball Complex.

Series History
The Trojans and Warhawks did not meet on the softball diamond until last season, when Auburn Montgomery swept Trevecca in a three-game regular season series before defeating the Trojans again in the Gulf South Conference Tournament.

Friday's doubleheader marked the fifth and sixth all-time meetings between the two programs. With today's results, the Trojans are now 1-5 all-time against AUM.

AUM 12, Trevecca 5 (Game 1)
Trevecca showed offensive life throughout the contest, totaling 12 hits and producing runs in multiple innings against one of the top teams in the conference.

The Trojans broke through in the third inning when Shay Hollingsworth delivered an RBI double to score Addy Grace Summers, putting Trevecca on the board.

In the fourth inning, Sarah Kinderdine launched a solo home run to left field, continuing her strong offensive stretch and cutting into the deficit.

Trevecca added two more runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by a two-run home run from Kyleigh Burgett, as the Trojans continued to apply pressure offensively.

The Trojans capped their scoring in the seventh inning when Sarah Nicholson delivered an RBI single as part of a late rally effort.

Sarah Kinderdine led Trevecca at the plate with two hits and an RBI, while Brianna Asmondy added two hits. Hollingsworth, Summers, and Nicholson each contributed key hits in the
balanced offensive effort.

Circle and Box Notes – Game 1 AUM 5, Trevecca 6 (Game 2)
Following the game one loss, the Trojans took to the diamond in hopes of splitting the doubleheader and forcing a rubber match on Saturday.

Runs were much more difficult to come by in game two, but AUM got on the board quickly in the top of the first. Despite the early adversity, the Trojans fought back to get on the board in the fourth with an RBI double from Sarah Kinderdine who then scored on an error to take a 2-1 lead.

Neither team would score again until the top of the seventh when AUM plated four runs and had the Trojans up against the ropes.

Trailing by three with just one out to work with, the Trojans would load the bases, setting the scene for Sarah Kinderdine. On the first pitch of the at-bat, Kinderdine launched her sixth home run of the season over the left field wall for a walk-off grand slam.

Kinderdine finished her day at the plate with six hits, including four hits and five RBI in game two. Her biggest swing of the day came with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to topple the
No. 8 ranked Warhawks.

In the circle, Parker Herrin tossed a complete game on 88 pitches. The lefty allowed just three earned runs on seven hits and struck out one. She recorded her sixth win of the season and did a great job keeping the Warhawks within striking distance for the offense.

Circle and Box Notes – Game 2 Next on the Diamond
Trevecca will finish its series with Auburn University Montgomery on Saturday with first pitch set for 12 p.m. at the Trevecca Softball Complex.

Following the series finale, the Trojans will hit the road for Oxford, Alabama to begin play in the Gulf South Conference Tournament.
