Trevecca Softball | Trojans Drop Regular Season Finale to No. 8 AUM; Open GSC Championship Wed. vs. No. 14 UWF.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – It was a busy day in Nashville, as the Trevecca Nazarene University softball team hosted the No. 8 Auburn University Montgomery Warhawks just across campus from commencement festivities. The Trojans got the weekend off to a fun start with a walk-off win in the second game of a double-header on Friday, but on Saturday, the Warhawks showed why they are a top-10 team in NCAA Division II.

AUM (41-9, 24-9 GSC) used a six-run fourth inning to break the game open, as Trevecca (19-18, 15-18 GSC) dropped their regular season finale to the Warhawks, 9-0.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES      
The Warhawks now lead the all-time series with Trevecca 7-2, dating back to 2012. The teams have now met seven times in the last two seasons, with AUM holding a 6-1 record in those meetings.

HOW IT HAPPENED     
AUM broke the seal in the top of the second inning. AUM took advantage of an error on a fielder's choice that allowed the Warhawks to plate a run on a two-out RBI double and take a 1-0 lead. A 2-run homer from Olivia Watkins with two outs in the third pushed the lead to 3-0, and in the fourth, six AUM hits led to six runs, and suddenly the gap was 9-0.

Bailey Goad had a two-out single in the bottom of the first, but the Trojans did not put another runner on base until a leadoff walk to Shay Hollingsworth in the fourth. Brianna Asmondy was able to reach on an error on a dropped third strike with two outs in the fourth, but Trevecca was unable to get any of the three runners beyond first base, and AUM took the win in five innings, 9-0 on the run rule.

NEXT ON THE DIAMOND       
The Trojans will now hit the field next at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Alabama. There, they will take part in the 2026 Gulf South Conference Championship as the eighth-seed. Trevecca's postseason will open with a date with the top-seeded University of West Florida Argonauts (40-10) on Wednesday, March 6, at 6 p.m. The Argos finished the season one game ahead of AUM and West Alabama, and they took 2-of-3 from Trevecca in Nashville in early March. The Trojans did win the series finale in that set, 6-5, on a two-run walk-off homer from Bailey Goad.
