Trevecca Softball | Trojans Battle but Fall in Saturday Twin Bill at Union

JACKSON, Tenn. - The Trevecca Nazarene University softball team closed out its Gulf South
Conference series Saturday with a doubleheader at Fesmire Field against Union. The Trojans
battled throughout the afternoon but ultimately fell 3-0 in the opener and 3-0 in the nightcap.

Despite the results, Trevecca (7-9, 3-9 GSC) showed strong efforts both in the circle and at the
plate, highlighted by solid pitching performances and several key hits throughout the day.

Union 3, Trevecca 0 (Game 1)

Trevecca produced early offensive opportunities in the series' second game but was unable to
capitalize despite collecting six hits.

The Trojans threatened in the opening inning when Shay Hollingsworth singled and Annalise
Mecklenburg followed with another base hit to load the bases, but Union escaped the jam to
keep the game scoreless.

Trevecca continued to generate offense throughout the afternoon. Mecklenburg led the Trojans
at the plate with two hits, while Sarah Nicholson, Annabelle Ellis, Kyleigh Burgett, and
Hollingsworth each added a hit.

In the circle, Parker Herrin delivered a strong complete-game effort, tossing six innings and
allowing just five hits while keeping the Trojans within striking distance throughout the contest.

Trevecca threatened again in the seventh inning when Ellis singled to put the tying run at the
plate, but Union closed the door to secure the win.
