Trevecca Men's Basketball | Jeremy Jackson Jr. Earns Trojans Sixth GSC Freshmen of the Week Honor

NASHVILLE – Jeremy Jackson Jr., a freshman guard on the Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team, was named the Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week for the third time by a Trojan this season. 
 
Jackson earned the honor for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 2, 2026, joining Jax Abernathy and Fred Bailey as TNU recipients this year. The trio has combined to earn six GSC Freshman of the Week awards this season.

Jackson delivered a strong two-game stretch, averaging 12.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while adding 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per contest. 
 
The 6-foot-3 St. Louis, Mo., native shot 55% (11-for-20) from the field on the week. 
 
The Columbia (Tenn.) Academy product scored a season-high 15 points to go along with seven rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals in Trevecca's two-overtime contest against GSC-leading and No. 12 West Alabama. Jackson shot 53.8% (7-for-13) from the field in the game. 
 
He followed with nine points, six rebounds and three steals in Trevecca's win over UAH. 
 
On the season, Jackson leads the Trojans in rebounding at 6.5 per game and is averaging 6.6 points per contest. He also paces the team in steals (29) and blocks (13), while shooting 53.7% from the field and 40% from 3-point range. 
 
Trevecca is 13-7 overall and 8-6 in GSC play, sitting fifth in the conference standings after being picked eighth in the preseason coaches' poll. The Trojans also own the fourth-best scoring offense in the league. 
 
In his first season at the helm, head coach Nate Moran has guided Trevecca to a 13-7 start. Picked eighth in the preseason, the Trojans have exceeded expectations as the season enters the final stretch. 
 
Jackson and the Trojans will play their next four games on the road, beginning Thursday at West Florida (17-5, 10-4 GSC) in Pensacola. Trevecca then travels to Valdosta State (12-8, 7-7 GSC) for a Saturday matchup with the Blazers. 
 
The Trojans will play a makeup game at AUM (4-16, 2-12 GSC) on Wednesday, Feb. 11, in Montgomery, before heading to Cleveland, Tenn., on Valentine's Day to face Lee (10-9, 7-8 GSC). 
 
Trevecca returns home for its final two regular-season games, beginning Thursday, Feb. 19, against Mississippi College (9-11, 5-9 GSC). The final home game and Senior Day is set for Saturday, Feb. 21, when Delta State (8-11, 6-8 GSC) visits 
 
Their final two games of the season are on the road in West Tennessee, playing two of their longest rivals. First, is Union University (8-11, 4-9 GSC) on Wednesday, Feb. 25. A date with Christian Brothers (4-13, 3-10 GSC) on Friday, Feb. 27 will complete the regular season. 
 
The Trojans are working toward hosting a Gulf South Tournament game for the second year in a row. The GSC Quarterfinals are Monday, March 2, 2026.
