Trevecca Women's Basketball | Trojans Dominate In-State Rival Lee, 71–51

NASHVILLE, TN. — The Trevecca Nazarene University women's basketball team (7-5, 4-3 GSC) earned a 71-51 home victory Sunday afternoon at Trojan Fieldhouse over in-state Gulf South Conference rival Lee University (8-4, 4-3 GSC). 
SERIES HISTORY
Sunday's matchup marked another chapter in the long-running series between Trevecca and Lee, with the Trojans continuing their strong recent play in the rivalry. The two programs have frequently met in conference play, with both sides trading competitive results over the years.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trevecca set the tone early, opening the game with strong interior play and defensive pressure. The Trojans built an early advantage and led 18-12 at the end of the first quarter.
The Trojans continued to control the pace in the second quarter, using efficient scoring in transition and forcing Lee into difficult shots. Trevecca outscored the Flames 17-13 in the period and carried a 35-25 lead into halftime.
Coming out of the break, Trevecca extended its lead behind a dominant third quarter. The Trojans shot efficiently, controlled the glass, and outscored Lee 19-11 in the frame to push the advantage to 54-36 heading into the fourth.
Trevecca maintained its momentum in the final period, matching Lee point-for-point while closing out the game from the free-throw line and on the defensive end. The Trojans outscored the Flames 17-15 in the fourth to secure the 71-51 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
Trevecca shot 52.2% (24-of-46) from the field and held Lee to 27.1% (16-of-59) shooting. The Trojans also finished 90.5% (19-of-21) from the free-throw line. Trevecca held advantages in points in the paint (40-24), fast-break points (7-3), and bench scoring (6-19), while also forcing 16 Lee turnovers.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
Jordan Gillies led all scorers with 27 points, adding four rebounds, three steals, and a block.
Cheyenne Trotter posted a strong all-around performance with 19 points and nine rebounds.
Jayda Woods chipped in 10 points, while Tatum Shaw finished with nine points and two assists.

Trevecca continues conference play with its next Gulf South Conference matchup later this week on the road Thursday against Delta State.
