NASHVILLE – Trevecca Nazarene University junior middle blocker
Katilyn Grant (Alabaster, Ala.) has been named the Gulf South Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for her outstanding play during the week ending Sunday, September 28, 2025.
Grant, a Thompson High School alum who began her collegiate career at Mars Hill University, powered the Trojans to a perfect 3-0 start in conference play. She totaled 42 kills, hit .440, and averaged 4.20 kills per set, leading Trevecca to two key road wins in her home state of Alabama and a decisive home victory in their GSC opener.
Her week was highlighted by:
- Union (Home): .545 hitting percentage in a 3-0 sweep to open league play.
- Montevallo (Road): 20 kills on .417 hitting in the Trojans' first GSC road test.
- UAH (Road): 14 kills on .429 hitting in a landmark win over the Chargers.
In addition, Grant contributed eight blocks, five digs, and two service aces across the three matches.
The Trojans lost just one set during the opening week of GSC play, capped by a historic win at UAH. The victory marked only the sixth all-time against the Chargers and just the third ever in Huntsville.
Trevecca's 9-3 start marks the best opening to a season in the program's NCAA Division II era (since 2013). The Trojans' 3-0 conference record is their strongest league start since 2016, when the program began GSC play 7-0.
