Trevecca Baseball | Trojan Bats Explode for Two Wins over UAH

NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (19-24, 14-15 GSC) took the first two games against the University of Alabama Huntsville (19-25, 9-20 GSC), at Jackson Field on Friday afternoon.

TNU beat UAH 9-4 in the opener and then the Trojans finished the day with a 14-12 win in game two.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
UAH holds a narrow 9-8 all-time series advantage having won all games played in Huntsville. The home team is still undefeated in this matchup.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE – TNU 9, UAH 4
Both teams plated a trio of runs in the first in what turned out to be a highly offensive game and day between the Trojans and Chargers. The Trojans scored twice off a Cole McCallum double down the left field line. Brady Maciak then tripled in McCallum to tie the game at 3-3. Cade Moore homered in the bottom of the second to give the Trojans their first lead of the afternoon. Both sides were retired in order in the third before the offense picked up again in the fourth.
 
With out in the fourth, the Chargers scored its fourth and final run of the game with an RBI single to right. In the bottom half of the inning, Moore went yard for the second time to give Trevecca the lead for good. The bats went quiet for the next three frames before a three-spot in the eighth. Luke Dymond led the inning off with a solo shot to left center before Cade Moore blasted his third long ball of the day over the left center field wall, capping the scoring at 9-4.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
* Cade Moore went 4-5 with five RBI, and four runs scored.
* Cole McCallum was 3-4 with two RBI and a run scored.
* Josh Griffin went 2-3 with a run scored.
* Nick Judd (4-4) started and picked up the win. He went 6.0 innings in which he allowed one run, a pair of walks and eight hits with six strikeouts.

GAME TWO – TNU 14, UAH 12
Game two of the day featured 26 runs and a massive comeback. Joey Parliment smashed a homer down the left field line to open the offensive explosion. UAH countered with a two-run dinger and a sacrifice fly to take the lead in the second.
 
The Chargers' lead grew in the fourth by a run and four more in the fifth before opening up a stout 10-2 lead in the sixth. The Trojans weren't fazed. Five run scoring singles in addition to a pair of run scoring doubles capped a 12-run inning for Trevecca. Despite allowing two runs in the top of the seventh, the Trojans closed up shop for a 14-12 win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
* Joey Parliment went 3-4 with three RBI and two runs scored.
* Cole McCallum was 4-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
* Carter Warner went 2-3 with three RBI, a walk and a run scored.
* Trent Merrill (1-0) picked up his first win of the year. He pitched the sixth inning allowing two runs and three hits with one strikeout.
 
NEXT ON THE DIAMOND 
The Trojans and Chargers close up their three-game series tomorrow afternoon. First pitch is set for 12:00 p.m.
