PENSACOLA, Fla. – The No. 12 Trevecca Nazarene University softball team (15-6, 6-6 GSC) finished a three-game series with the University of West Florida at the UWF Softball Complex on Saturday morning.
Trevecca beat the Argonauts (16-7, 9-3 GSC) 4-2 to avoid its second three-game sweep in GSC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
TNU 4, UWF 2 – F/9
After a quick first inning, the Trojans got on the scoreboard first in the second. A two-out
Kyleigh Burgett home run to left center field gave Trevecca a 1-0 lead. The Argonauts countered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third as a one-out triple followed by a single tied the game. With two outs, another single gave the home side a 2-1 lead through three complete.
Both teams went down in order in the fourth and fifth innings before tacked on the tying run in the sixth. With two out and a runner in scoring position,
Brianna Asmondy poked a ball to right center field to bring in
Shay Hollingsworth, making it 2-2. Despite loading the bases in the sixth, the Trojans dug in and forced extra innings with a quick bottom of the seventh.
With two out and the bases loaded in the top of the ninth,
Annabelle Ellis provided the difference. A double through the left side scored two and helped the Trojans to the win.

Ashlan Sensing (10-3) started and picked up her league-leading 10th win of the season. She finished the complete game with five strikeouts and just two earned runs over six.
NEXT ON THE DIAMOND
The Trojans return home to face the Bulldogs of Union University (4-16, 2-7 GSC) in a single game at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 14. Union sticks around for a series ending doubleheader on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
Trevecca commands an overwhelming 31-12 advantage in the all-time series over the Bulldogs, including a 12-8 lead in the Division II era.
