Trevecca Softball | No. 12 Trojans Swept at UWF; Series Finale Saturday at 10 AM

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The No. 12 Trevecca Nazarene University softball team (14-6, 5-6 GSC) dropped a pair of Gulf South Conference games at the University of West Florida (16-6, 9-2 GSC) on Friday. Losing 2-0 in the opener and 10-2 (6) in game two

Saturday's series finale is now slated for a 10:00 AM start to avoide weather concerns.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES 
This is the first time the two teams have played in softball, giving the Argos a 2-0 series lead.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME ONE // TNU 0, UWF 2
Both teams mustered four hits, but the Argos converted those chances producing two runs while the Trojans were held scoreless. Trevecca starter Ashlan Sensing pitched well, allowing just two runs, but UWF starter, Haley Guffey, faired bit better, throwing a shutout over seven innings. The Argos got the only run they'd need when Erin Moon tripled with two away in the bottom of the first. Moon scored on a wild pitch.

CIRCLE AND BOX NOTES
Sarah Kinderdine had the only extra base hit for the Trojans, a double.  
Sensing (9-3) took the loss, throwing six innings, allowing four (4) hits and a walk, with three (3) strikeouts.


HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME TWO // TNU 2, UWF 10
The Argos jumped out to an early lead, platting five runs on five hits in the bottom of the first. The big blow was a two-run home run. The Trojans wasted ten (10) hits, stranding six runners.

CIRCLE AND BOX NOTES
Zoe Lawrence added another hit in game two, she was 2-2 on the day.  
Parker Herrin and Annabelle Ellis both went 2-3.

Haylie Brooks (2-2) started and took the loss.


NEXT ON THE DIAMOND    
The Trojans finish their visit to Pensacola, Fla. on Saturday at 10:00 AM when they face the West Florida Argonauts in the series finale.

 

The Trojans return home to face the Bulldogs of Union University (4-16, 2-7 GSC) in a single game at 4:00 PM on Friday March 14. Union sticks around for a series ending doubleheader on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
