NASHVILLE – The No. 12 Trevecca Nazarene University softball team (14-4, 5-4 GSC) finished up its first ever Gulf South Conference home series at the Trevecca Softball Complex on Saturday afternoon.
Trevecca took down Montevallo (9-11, 3-6 GSC) 12-1 in five innings and finished up the doubleheader with an 7-2 win over the Falcons.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE

Ashlan Sensing quickly retired the side to start the day off before things turned interesting with the Trojans at the plate. The first three Trojans reached base as
Brianna Asmondy slammed ball over the center field wall for a quick 3-0 lead. Sensing became the all-time leader in career strikeouts in the NCAA era with a pair of K's hung in the second. The Trojan hurler added four more strikeouts throughout the outing as the Trojans added four more runs in the fourth. Montevallo scored its lone run of the opener off an RBI single in the fifth before Trevecca's bats ended things early. A bases loaded walk by
Annabelle Ellis and a grand slam off the bat of Shea Hollingsworth clinched the game and series for the Trojans 12-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO

Both sides had two hits apiece through two innings complete with nothing to show for it before the Trojan bats broke through in the bottom of the third. A
Shay Hollingsworth sac bunt and an
Annabelle Ellis single made it 2-0 Trevecca. Both squads scored unconventional runs in the fifth. The Falcons touched home off a wild pitch while the Trojans scored off a throwing error.
Maddie Poschke led the sixth off with a solo shot, a frame in which the Trojans scored four more runs. Back-to-back doubles off the bats of both Shay Hollinsworth and
Brianna Asmondy plated three as it was 7-1 Trevecca through six. A Falcon solo homer in the top of the seventh finish up the scoring as the Trojans finished off the three-game sweep in style.

NEXT ON THE DIAMOND
The Trojans travel to Pensacola, Fla. for a series with the West Florida Argonauts (14-6, 7-2 GSC) March 7-8.
This will be the first meeting in the NCAA era for the two schools in softball.
