MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The No. 9 Trevecca Nazarene University softball team (9-2) opened its first-ever Gulf South Conference series at the AUM Softball Complex on Friday afternoon.
Trevecca fell to #2 Auburn University Montgomery (7-2) 5-1 and finished up the doubleheader with an 8-0 loss to the Warhawks.
SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
The all-time series sits at 3-1 in favor of AUM. AUM won the first-ever meeting back in 2012, while the Trojans claimed victory in the most recent contest during the 2016 season.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
AUM 5, TNU 1
Brianna Asmondy set the tone for the Trojans in the first with a two-out solo home run to left center field. Trevecca gave a one-run cushion to starter
Ashlan Sensing who allowed just one hit through the first two innings. A run scoring single followed by a triple opened the Trojans up as the Warhawks claimed their first lead of the day which was not relinquished. An RBI single in the fourth followed by two more runs in the fifth made way for the 5-1 AUM win.

Ashlan Sensing (5-1) started and took her first loss of the young season. She sat down four on strikes over six innings of work with eight hits and five earned runs.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
AUM 8, TNU 0 – F/5
Game two got out of hand fairly quickly. The Warhawks had a base runner in all five frames, scoring at least once in the last four. AUM led 3-0 after the first three innings and added two more with a single in the fifth. The Warhawks finished off the run-shortened game with a three-spot in the fifth to win, 8-0.

Haylie Brooks (1-1) started and took her first loss of the young season. Over 3.2 innings of work, she allowed eight hits, five runs (three of which were earned) while facing 20 batters.

Weather permitting, the Trojans close their first three-game Gulf South Conference set on Saturday with AUM.
