MOBILE, Ala. – The Trevecca Nazarene women's soccer team (3-3-3, 1-1-3 GSC) picked up its first Gulf South Conference victory under head coach Matheus Mello with a 2-1 road win at Spring Hill (2-2-5, 0-2-2 GSC) on Friday afternoon.
THE SERIES
With the result, the all-time series between Trevecca and Spring Hill is now even at 1-1.
THE MATCH
Trevecca opened the scoring in the 12th minute through
Peyton Wilkinson who put the Trojans in front early. Spring Hill responded immediately when Thyri Willumsdottir found the equalizer in the 13th minute.
The decisive moment came in the 84th minute when
Taylor Baines slotted home the game-winner off an assist from
Jenna Woods, securing the Trojans' first GSC victory of the year.
Trevecca held a 12–9 edge in total shots. The Trojan defense, anchored by goalkeeper
Bailie Fiore, stood tall late to preserve the lead and close out the win.
